Turkish EPC Contractor and MWM Distributor İltekno A.Ş. Installs First Cogeneration Power Plant with Gas Engines in Uzbekistan
Schwaz, January 4, 2023
In Uzbekistan, İltekno’s team of professionals supplies energy-efficient solutions to organizations that are keen to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs. In 2019, specialists from the Turkish EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractor İltekno successfully commissioned a power plant for FT Textile Group LLC, a company that was founded in 2017 in the city of Namangan in Uzbekistan and that is part of the Orient Group of Companies. The company currently produces cotton yarn using the latest technologies from leading German companies at a rate of 41 t/day and is one of the country’s leading manufacturers of mélange and dyed yarns. The factory also produces other types of yarn, such as polyester, viscose, bamboo, and modal.

The project to be rolled out by İltekno comprised the delivery, installation, assembly, and commissioning of an MWM TCG 2032B V16 natural gas engine generator set and auxiliary equipment. This generator set has an electrical efficiency of 44.3 percent and an output of 4,500 kW. Heat recovery is carried out both from the engine jacket water and from the exhaust system with a hot water recovery boiler. In the past, the client’s production quality and stability had suffered from power shortages and severe fluctuations in the local grid. Since the completion of the cogeneration power plant, this issue has been fully solved, and the factory is able to continue with its production without being affected by any power outages.

Additionally, guided by the pioneer spirit of the founders of MWM, İltekno is proud to be the first to install a cogeneration power plant based on gas engines in the country. The opening ceremony of the plant raised a lot of media attention and was attended by His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Moreover, the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Energy and Foreign Investment, senior bureaucrats, and dozens of businesspeople were present at the opening ceremony.

TCG 2032 Series: A Long-Standing Success Story
Initially designed for use in trains, for more than 20 years this generator set has proved to be one of the most reliable onsite gas engines available. Features such as sturdiness, availability, low maintenance, and low operating costs make the TCG 2032 series the perfect solution for independent, secure power supply. The great success of this series is underlined by the fact that within the last decade, MWM Austria has delivered more than 170 units of this series to customers in the CIS region, providing approximately 750 MW of power.
