MWM launches 60 Hz variant of TCG 3020 V20 gas engines
Mannheim, March 6, 2024
After the 50 Hz variants, MWM now also offers TCG 3020 V20 gas generator sets in a 60 Hz variant. Apart from expanding its product range, the 60 Hz variant of the TCG 3020 V20 gas engine enables MWM to address additional markets.
High efficiency, reliable plant control
In the output range from 2,000 to 2,300 kWel, the MWM TCG 3020 V20 60 Hz gas engines deliver an electrical efficiency of up to 44.4 percent for natural gas or 43.4 percent for biogas. The total efficiency is up to 87.6 percent for natural gas or 85.0 percent for biogas. In the Z configuration (propane gas and natural gas), the TCG 3020 V20 60 Hz gas engine boasts an output of 1.880 kWel and an electrical efficiency of up to 41.5 percent for propane gas or up to 42.0 per cent for natural gas. The total efficiency is up to 87.9 percent.
With its 50 Hz and 60 Hz variants, the TCG 3020 V20 delivers maximum application flexibility and optimum adaptability to diverse market requirements. Thanks to the digital plant control TPEM (Total Plant & Energy Management), all relevant power-plant data and key functions such as the synchronization, generator and network switches, and remote access are consolidated in a single system. The digital status monitoring system MWM Remote Asset Monitoring (RAM) that was introduced in 2021 facilitates real-time monitoring, output optimization, and speedy troubleshooting of TCG 3020 gas engines.
The all-round talent among MWM gas engines
Despite the compact design and the almost identical space requirements for the setup, the MWM gas engines of the TCG 3020 series achieve up to 18 percent more output than the predecessor model. The engines with steel pistons are suitable for various applications and gas types, such as natural gas, biogas, APG, propane gas, and hydrogen admixtures. Using the MWM 25H2-Kit, existing plants with TCG 3020 V20 gas generator sets can be retrofitted for operation with a hydrogen admixture of up to 25 vol%. The long service intervals of the gas engine series with up to 80,000 operating hours until the next general overhaul (if the gas quality is high) further enhance the plant’s profitability.
